How good is your website?
Two IT companies are offering hands-on, expert advice on getting the most from your website at a workshop during Wrexham Business Week.
PriceMaurice Limited and Crystal Clear Website Marketing Consultants are taking part in a website clinic on Friday 11 November, organised by Wrexham ICT Support Centre and the Welsh Development Agency (WDA). It's designed to help business men and women get the most from their website and advise them on any existing problems.
Many businesses have a website but do not understand how to attract potential customers to the site or generate significant sales through it. Friday's event is designed to be more than a just a seminar or lecture. Three web experts will be reviewing websites and offering one to one practical advice for making improvements.
One of the advisors is Matt Price, the managing director of Llangollen-based web developers PriceMaurice Limited. He says, "It's amazing how many businesses know they need a website but fail to ensure they make it work for them. It's really important to think through what you want your site to do and ensure whoever develops it assists you with that process."
Guests to the event, being held in the WDA Technology trailer, located in NEWI's car park, will be advised how clear and useable their site is, how accessible it is to disabled visitors and how it can be made more search-engine friendly. The aim of the event is to provide impartial, informal advice to enable businesses to get the most from their own site.
Nicky Nelson from Crystal Clear Website Marketing Consultants which specialises in search engine marketing says "It's really important to build your website with its online marketing potential in mind. I'm going to be advising guests at the clinic on how to attract more potential customers to their website thus generating more leads, enquiries and sales."
The idea of the website clinic is to offer professional advice and help businesses learn from others. The website clinic's organiser, Andrew Roberts from Wrexham ICT Support Centre says "I hope everyone who comes will pick up lots of website best practice tips and techniques to ensure any problems can be put right quickly."
Wrexham Business Week has been running at a variety of locations across Wrexham and continues until November 14. Organised by the Economic Development Department within Wrexham County Borough Council, the programme has seen almost 50 events covering a whole range of business topics.
